Description This Project consists in comprehensive strategy to reduce overal water consumption of the user, with a main target to totally reduce his extraction of underground water.
The project is locatd in North Jakarta, one of the most water-stressed area of the city;
Starting with a detailed and intensive water audit, a set of specific water efficiency solutions were identified and implemented during a period of 3 years. It allowed to:
- Metering and monitoring, through a combination of specific instruments installed at strategic locations
- Evaluation of water usage during high occupancy, low occupancy, day, night;
- Clarify water usage profile,
- Set-up a water balance;
- Develop investment strategy according to detailed Cost Benfits Analysis, giving priorities to fastest ROI;
Identify and reduce over-consumptions in accordance with International benchmarks;
- Identify and stop leaking pipes;
- Capacity building of technical staff;
- Capacity building of subcontractors involved in O&M of water related energy equipments (Boilers, Cooling towers, chillers)
- Socialisation program to non-technical staff and to hotel clients;
- Adjust SOP to new service conditions;

Achievement:
- 57% consumption reduction, equivalent to 160.000 M3 per year, while Hotel activity increased by 11%;
- 15 % impact on energy cost;
- Deepwell totally stopped, allowing saving 130 M3 water per day;
- Wastewater treatment plant productivity increased from 15% to 82%, while chemicals have ben totally stopped;
- Rain harvesting water is used for landscape and gardening

The project was rewarded by International Tourism Partnership London, as "Green Hotelier of the year" and best "Water Management performances".
