| Description | This Project consists in comprehensive strategy to reduce overal water consumption of the user, with a main target to totally reduce his extraction of underground water. The project is locatd in North Jakarta, one of the most water-stressed area of the city; Starting with a detailed and intensive water audit, a set of specific water efficiency solutions were identified and implemented during a period of 3 years. It allowed to: - Metering and monitoring, through a combination of specific instruments installed at strategic locations - Evaluation of water usage during high occupancy, low occupancy, day, night; - Clarify water usage profile, - Set-up a water balance; - Develop investment strategy according to detailed Cost Benfits Analysis, giving priorities to fastest ROI; Identify and reduce over-consumptions in accordance with International benchmarks; - Identify and stop leaking pipes; - Capacity building of technical staff; - Capacity building of subcontractors involved in O&M of water related energy equipments (Boilers, Cooling towers, chillers) - Socialisation program to non-technical staff and to hotel clients; - Adjust SOP to new service conditions; Achievement: - 57% consumption reduction, equivalent to 160.000 M3 per year, while Hotel activity increased by 11%; - 15 % impact on energy cost; - Deepwell totally stopped, allowing saving 130 M3 water per day; - Wastewater treatment plant productivity increased from 15% to 82%, while chemicals have ben totally stopped; - Rain harvesting water is used for landscape and gardening The project was rewarded by International Tourism Partnership London, as "Green Hotelier of the year" and best "Water Management performances".  |
