Themes & Indicators Ecosystem
  • Spatial extent (hectare or km2) of water related ecosystem is maintained or enhanced.
  • Quality of water and water related ecosystems is monitored, maintained, and improved
  • The water balance (water quantity ) of water related ecosystem, including groundwater dependent, is monitored and maintained.
  • Measures that make hydrological alteration more sustainable and promote riverine connectivity are implemented
People
  • Proportion of population having access to sufficient, safely managed and affordable drinking water services is increased
  • Proportion of population having access to adequate and equitable safely managed sanitation services is increased
  • Mortality rate attributed to unsafe water, unsafe sanitation and lack of hygiene (exposure to unsafe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for All (WASH) services) is decreased.
  • Wastewater from domestic (household) activities is safely treated, recycling is increased and safely reused.
Economic and Development
  • Water supply for economic and development activities across all sectors is secure, reliable and sustainably used.
  • Water-use efficiency in economic and development activities is improved and sustainable withdrawal and supply of freshwater is ensured.
  • Wastewater from industrial activities or other economic and development activities is safely treated, recycling is increased and safely reused
  • Sustainable water practices by economic and development activities are promoted and implemented.
  • Pollution load management and circular economy is enhanced
Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Response
  • Economic losses due to water-related disasters are reduced
  • People-centered early warning systems for water-related disasters are effective and available
Cross Cutting
  • A collaboration mechanism for public, community and multi-stakeholder participation in water resources development, management and decision making that addresses inequalities is established.

Description
  • Everyone has a stake in water security, but not everyone has a say in addressing water security problems. While not everyone is not interested to be involved, for those who are willing should be provided a space to express and be part of the solutions.
  • Some problems spread across generations waiting to be solved. Having perspectives and minds from cross generations water enthusiasts will help to enrich the thinking in developing solutions
  • Cross-gen water for River Resilience brings water enthusiasts from different generations (Boomer, Gen Y, Gen X and Gen Z) to form a group and contribute to develop solutions for the emerging shared challenges of water security in priority river basins all around the world.
