Description

Driven by the members of Indonesia Water Coalition (IWC), momentum has been created to support joint action and contribute to water security in West-Java. West-Java is the center of economic development of Indonesia and consists of a densely populated area where the impacts of population growth, economic development and climate change are affecting millions. The objective of this project is to build awareness and capacity for increasing business and community resilience to impacts of climate change, population growth and economic development on water resources in water-stressed basins in West-Java.

The Indonesia Water Coalition envisions itself to be at the steering wheel towards good practices on water at site and catchment level and building a community of practice that drives good water stewardship for resilient cities in West-Java. It is an organized, multi stakeholder partnership of leading public, private and other actors with the common objective to actively support the civil society and government in achieving water security and sustainability of the water resources and promoting collective action.

The project aims to enable and create leverage for public-private partnerships through capacity building and strategy development on water stewardship. AWS Indonesia has been enabled to become a trusted member of the IWC through the support of AWP.

The objectives of this project are:
  1. Increased awareness and capacity of the Indonesia Water Coalition members and key stakeholders on climate resilience in water-stressed basins in West-Java by promoting the AWS Standard and good water stewardship.
  2. A capacitated and trusted Coalition that positions itself at the steering wheel towards good water stewardship for resilient cities in West-Java through a growing community of practice and joint action on water.
